Celebrity Diet: December

Celebrity Diet is a monthly roundup where we feature food places approved by your favourite stars.

Looking for new food spots this December? Check out these places recommended by your favourite online personalities. This month, see where Shanice Ang dropped by for a luxurious afternoon tea session fit for royalty, and find out which modern culinary creations got Saffron Sharpe raving “so good”!

1. Shanice Ang @ Artistique

It seems Artistique has perfected the art of afternoon tea sessions. With their curated selection of artisanal tea, delicately crafted menu and no-frills art jamming sessions, you’ll want to spend an afternoon catching up with your friends at Artistique. Opt for their Afternoon Treats Special ($48 for 2 pax) which comes with two specialty teas (we’d recommend the refreshing Lychee Tea) and a selection of sweet and savory mains like deconstructed matcha cheesecake and smoked duck tortilla wrap – all immaculately presented in an elegant birdcage-like tea stand.

2. Saffron Sharpe @ Kilo At Pact

Hunting for food options in town? Skip the usual chain restaurants and pop by Kilo At Pact, an eclectic fusion eatery overlooking Somerset Road. It boasts a photogenic industrial chic interior that matches their drool-worthy Japanese inspired dishes. The Cream Of Ebiko Pasta ($28) and Crispy Soft Shell Crab ($20) has Saffron’s (and our) stamp of approval. Think rich and creamy smelt roe and succulent prawns tossed with pasta, and crispy soft shell crab fritters paired with a surprising combination of watermelon and red Thai curry.

3. Val Lim @ Katto

It seems like sashimi rice bowls are all the rage right now, and hopping on this trend is Katto, which promises to serve up innovative and convenient rice bowls for those watching their waist. For just $12.90, they pack their square and rustic take-away boxes with 250g of premium Japanese rice and 140g of tuna or salmon (yes, the generous portions means that the rice to meat ratio works out to a hearty 2:1). With a serving of greens on the side, you’ll literally be having a square meal filled with wholesome goodness.

4. Sophia Chong @ Nosh

If you want to find somewhere to dine and “up” your instagram game at the same time, Nosh is the place you’re looking for. Nestled among lush greenery with a modern set-up, this cafe put as much thought into interior decorating as to their brunch menu. The Cured Salmon ($19) that Sophia had is a safe option of house cured orange and beetroot salmon, layered on some rustic bread and topped with fluffy scrambled eggs. Those looking for something more unconventional should try the Crab Benedict ($20). The hollandaise sauce pimped up with coconut curry and the poached eggs resting on some crab cakes make for a brunch item reminiscent of our favourite chilli crab dish – perfect for modern foodies.

These are the few places that got our influencers’ tummies (and ours too) satisfied. Let us know if you give these places a shot by tagging us at #ZyrupEats on Instagram. Who knows, apart from the good food, you might just catch your favourite stars at these places!
