It’s official: Justin Timberlake will headline the coveted 2018 Super Bowl halftime show.
JT has some pretty big shoes to fill; people are still talking about Beyoncé and Lady Gaga’s performances. However, as one of the few pop stars in the game lauded for both their singing and dancing capabilities, we have no doubt that Mr. Timberlake will kill it onstage.
While he has yet to reveal any details about his performance, it’s almost tradition now that the headlining artist will bring in special guests. Here are three appearances on our wish list that we are praying he’ll deliver:
1. NSYNC Reunion
This one’s a no-brainer. The pop group are basically legends at this point, and he owes a huge part of his career to the band. Yes, we know the reunion has already happened at the VMAs. But hey, Beyoncé recycled her BBMAs performance concept and no one said a thing. Speaking of Beyoncé, she made the Destiny’s Child reunion happen during her performance in 2013. You’ll need to match that, JT.
2. An Appearance by Britney Spears
I mean, these two were ICONIC together. Bieber and Gomez don’t even come close. These two are pop music royalty. She’s the Princess of Pop, and he’s the Prince. It just makes perfect sense. People have been longing for a reunion between Pinky and Stinky for the longest time, and this will be the perfect opportunity. Imagine this: Justin is pouring his heart out into an emotional, stripped down rendition of ‘Cry Me a River’. Boom. Dramatic entrance by Brit Brit. They do the epic dance off that the entire world has been wanting to see since 2002. DO IT, JUSTIN. Give Britney a call — you guys will break the Internet.
3. #JusticeforJanet
We love you, Justin, but we cannot ignore how shady you were in dealing with #nipplegate. However, here’s your chance at redemption. Bring Janet onstage. Let her have her moment. Heck, let her rip a part of your costume off. If Katy Perry can share the limelight with Missy Elliott for no apparent reason, you sure can spare Ms. Jackson a couple of minutes for the years of rough treatment she’s faced. You kinda owe her one, big time.
