As much as he’s known for intriguing and inventive soundscapes, Lauv asserts himself as a storyteller, first and foremost. His stories continue to enchant audiences everywhere by converting the magic around him into generational anthems.

Kickstarting his career in 2015, Lauv put out viral sensation “The Other” and landed a global smash in the form of “I Like Me Better” which amassed over 1 billion streams on Spotify. He served up Gold-selling 2018 playlist I Met You When I Was 18 and Gold-selling 2020 debut album ~how i’m feeling~ along with a procession of hits, including the Platinum hit “I’m So Tired” with Troye Sivan as well as Gold-certified singles “There’s No Way” [feat. Julia Michaels] and “Fuck, I’m Lonely” [feat. Anne-Marie].”

’26’ marks his first release of the year and sets the stage for the arrival of his highly anticipated second full-length album due later in 2022.

On the track, Lauv creates a nuanced soundscape with a guitar riff and mesmerising beat over which his confessional lyrics paint vivid pictures of the hurdles he had to overcome to reach where he is today.

Perhaps “Can I tell you a story about a boy who broke his own heart/And he always blamed everybody else/but the truth is that he did it to himself” might be the most representative lyrics of the song.

Lauv shared, “I wrote 26 about growing up and trying to find your light, the one you lose touch with as you get older. It marks the moment I’m stepping back into the world and taking control of my narrative again.”

He considers the process of songwriting both cathartic and a painful but necessary one as it requires him to bare his heart to the world. Speaking to ZYRUP Magazine, he shared that the process of writing 26 was “definitely a little bit more painful…but (I am) thankful nonetheless and happy”.

He also recently dropped ‘All 4 Nothing (I’m So In Love)’. The single serves as the title track of Lauv’s highly anticipated second full-length album, All 4 Nothing, set to be released in August.

On the inspiration behind the new single, Lauv shares ‘All 4 Nothing (I’m So In Love)’ is a song about loving someone so much at a time in your life when you’re still in the process of learning how to love yourself and being scared how your own personal insecurities could ruin a love that is and could be so genuine and transformative. In essence, it’s a song about surrendering to love and life.”

On his upcoming album, All 4 Nothing, Lauv opened up like never before to expand his signature sound. He focused on the storytelling and crafted an immersive and irresistible body of work steeped in moments of nostalgia, conflict, and ultimately, self-empowerment.
