This week’s Song of the Week comes courtesy of The X Factor Australia alumna Natalie Ong.
Produced by Josh Wei (known for his work with Gentle Bones), the debut single of the 16-year-old songstress features her signature powerhouse vocals, complemented with moody, hypnotic beats. Its sound is reminiscent of hits by Adam Lambert, who was also her mentor on the reality singing competition.
The track chronicles her experiences after being eliminated from the competition. In a recent interview with The Straits Times, she revealed how ‘Get Gold’ relates to her persistence after The X Factor ended for her. The song establishes how the Melbourne-based singer never gave up.
The song was released in the lead up to SHINE Festival, an annual youth event organized by the National Youth Council.
At this year’s run, from June 30 to July 2, Ong will take the stage alongside Korean pop star Jessica Jung and local acts like The Sam Willows and Shigga Shay.
‘Get Gold’ is available on iTunes and Spotify.
