Song of the Week: ‘Distraction’ by M1LDL1FE

This week’s Song of the Week comes courtesy of M1LDL1FE, formerly the band known as Take Two.

Previously known as Take Two, M1LDL1FE is the four-man group’s new moniker after the departure of guitarist Johnathan Lim.

Their first single, ‘Distraction’, is a song about “coming to terms with the various things in life that are distractions”, be it work or family obligations.

The single is a sprightly bop, reminiscent of pop-rock hits by Bombay Bicycle Club, marking a departure from their earlier Two Door Cinema Club-inspired sound.

“I think we took longer than expected to get used to John not being around, and playing music without his ‘voice’ being a part of it. We had to turn inward and do a little searching for a sound within ourselves,” shared frontman Paddy Ong.

The track also serves as a lead single off their upcoming self-titled EP, which will have its launch party on 5 August, 2017 at Dream Academy. Tickets to the event can be purchased here.

‘Distraction’ is available on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify.
