Song of the Week: ‘Save Myself’ by The Sam Willows

This week’s Song of the Week comes courtesy of Singapore’s favourite foursome, The Sam Willows.

We’re still not done enjoying ‘Keep Me Jealous’, but The Sam Willows has already hit us with a brand new single, titled ‘Save Myself’.

While the group channeled a Korean-inspired aesthetic for the first single, they opted for a distinctively classic Hong Kong look this time around. Artist and photographer Tan Yang Er, who also worked with the group on the music video for ‘Keep Me Jealous’, shared on her Instagram page that the cover image was indeed shot in Hong Kong using an old-school film camera.

No word yet on when the official music video will drop, but the band has already uploaded a lyric video on their VEVO page. The video features local actress Lim Shi-An struggling underwater, drawing visual parallels with the line “Oh where do I turn now that I’m sinking into the deep.”

“This song means so much to me. It’s for those who are struggling with yourself. I know it’s not easy,” band member Jon Chua shared on Facebook.

‘Save Myself’ is available on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify.
