Celebrity Diet: October

Celebrity Diet is a monthly roundup where we feature food places approved by your favourite stars.

It’s time to #TreatYoSelf.

This month, we’ve got everything from the humble hawker to the indulgent cafe that’s sure to fit any budget.

1. Rosalyn Lee @ PS.Cafe

Here’s another reason to drop by PS.Cafe (as if their gooey sticky date pudding and truffle fries aren’t reason enough): their small but impressive selection of sandwiches.

The Chargrilled Chunky Prawn ($27) in particular, has won Rosalyn over with its “dope” combination of prawns, spiced pickled mango, and kaffir lime aioli sandwiched between their house sourdough. Other choices include the PS.Steak stuffed with sliced 400+ day grain-fed sirloin, or the timeless Croque Monsieur / Madame.

2. Kimberly Wang @ Ah Lim Jln Tua Kong Mee Pok

To get a sense of how good Ah Lim Jln Tua Kong Mee Pok is, consider the fact that this standalone stall has its own geotag on Instagram. The best part? It’s not yet as hyped as some other places, so you don’t need to endure long hours queuing for this comforting bowl of noodles.

And beyond the usual suspects of minced meat, fishballs, and fish cake, the BCM (from $4) here comes with variants like abalone, prawns, and dumplings.

3. Julie Tan @ Lickety

Few pairings are as harmonious as ice cream and waffles. At Lickety, you can indulge in this icy treat encased in a fluffy circle-patterned egglet waffle cone, instead of the usual square variety.

From $8.90 a pop, you’ll get one scoop and one topping to go with the waffle. And for flavours as colourful as their interior – think cotton candy bubblegum ice cream and a red velvet waffle base – pop by this ice cream parlour for a pastel-hued midday treat.

4. Nat Ho @ LoveBento

Okay, we might be cheating a bit here. You’ll probably pretty likely to spot Nat Ho at LoveBento, considering the fact that he’s the owner of this stall selling healthy bento meals. But he has somehow worked the decadent salted egg sauce into his lean and healthy menu, and who could resist anything drizzled with salted egg? With prices that start from $6, eating healthy just got a lot easier, and cheaper.
