5 Reasons Why We Can’t Wait for Troye Sivan’s Concert

Oh, my my my! We can’t wait any longer.

Troye Sivan’s concert is just around the corner, and Bloom, his latest album, has been on repeat all week at the ZYRUP office. With stops including Singapore, Manila, Bangkok and Hong Kong, the Australian heart-throb is on his way to stealing hearts on a global level.

We’re ready to put our dancing shoes on for the aptly-titled ‘Dance to This’, and we’ve got our tissues ready for ‘What a Heavenly Way to Die’. Why exactly are we this hyped? Well, here are five reasons why.

1. He Is the Reigning Prince of Pop

His breakthrough EPs, TRXYE (2014) and Wild (2015) introduced the doe-eyed singer to the music scene. With the release of his debut studio album Blue Neighbourhood in 2015, the buzz surrounding the star has only grown bigger each year. He has since performed with Taylor Swift on her Reputation tour and has released killer collaborations with Ariana Grande, Chali XCX and Lauv, all of which catapulted Sivan to the top of Spotify charts around the world.

2. We’ve Literally Watched Him #Bloom

In 2006, the then-11 year old Troye made his first public appearance on a popular Australian fundraising program when he took the stage with Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian on a television program. This probably ignited a passion for the artiste to pursue the music industry, as he released his first EP in 2007, Dare to Dream, featuring five cover songs. He then exploded on the YouTube scene. The rest, as they say, is history.

3. He’s an LGBTQ+ Icon

One of the most defining moments of Sivan’s career was his coming out in 2013, which he did in a – you guessed it – YouTube video, which has garnered a staggering 8.3 million views to date. Time magazine named him one of the most influential teens of 2014, and he has since continued to speak up for teens struggling with coming to terms with their sexuality. He has also leveraged on his influence to increase the visibility for the LGBTQ+ community through his music videos – which has undoubtedly made him stand out amongst his peers. We stan.

4. He Keeps It Real

Even with hit songs like chart-topper ‘My My My!’ under his belt, Sivan still maintains his authentic identity by creating lyrics that touches on his own experiences and addresses contemporary social issues. In particular, we love how he depicted the struggles of young queer love through his Blue Neighborhood music video trilogy, ‘WILD’, ‘FOOLS’ and ‘TALK ME DOWN’! These, by the way, earned Sivan an MTV Video Music Awards nomination for Breakthrough Long Form Video in 2016. No mean feat for someone who was just starting out in his music career.

5. He Is a Multi-Hyphenate

Our boy is not just gifted in creating great music and entertaining video vlogs; Troye has also dipped his toes in acting and modelling. Besides having starred in his latest movie Boy Erased, which also features legends like Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe, Sivan also became the face of Valentino Menswear. For real tho, is there anything he can’t do?

With global influence in various sectors including music, movies and fashion, Troye Sivan is definitely one to watch, and a force to be reckoned with in the media industry. Sivan can be seen to have taken many bold risks in his music career, and his highly-compelling musicality has propelled Bloom to be accredited as one of the best albums of 2018. It is thus no surprise that The Bloom Tour has seen its tickets sell like hotcakes.
