A look back on Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) Spark the Change Fest 2022.
In conjunction with World Suicide Prevention Day, Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) has put forth this inaugural event in hopes to break the stigma and spark the change for those individuals thinking of or affected by suicide, or going through a crisis.

Spark the Change Fest 2022 was held on 3rd September 2022 at Palawan Green Sentosa where the event kicked off with a 3km #HowRU walk was flagged off by Senior Parliamentary Secretary Mr Eric Chua. More than 2,000 people attended the event and joined in the walkathon.

Concluded with a music festival in celebration of the power of music and the arts for mental health and suicide prevention. The festival was headlined by 12 of our local artistes – RRILEY, ShiGGa Shay, Charlie Lim, Jack & Rai, Glenn Yong, Aden Tan, Hong Junyang, Jason Chung, Joanna Dong, lewloh, Yong Bang and Zadon. Guest-of-Honour Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong also delivered a speech virtually, highlighting the importance of the community working together to better support individuals in distress.

Not forgetting the hard work by our food vendors in delivering the best foods at the F&B booths during the event. We had MasterChef Singapore Season 3 winner, Jonathan Chew collaborating with The Bun Club sharing some new flavours to the menu. Along with booths like Artisanal Persia, Ah Lim Nasi Lemak and Sotong Brothers who sold our favourite comfort food snacks. The best thing is, part of the proceeds from all F&B purchases during the event went towards supporting the cause!
Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) has officially launched its round-the-clock text messaging service which provides free and confidential emotional support via WhatsApp to individuals in distress. This serves as another resource to their 24-hour Hotline and CareMail, for anyone who prefers to share their struggles over text message. All over there are many among us who are fighting silent battles no one knows about. Everyone has an important part to play when it comes to suicide prevention.
